2D/Drawing- will begin enlarging their project on the grid. All steps will be gone over the document camera

3D- In class we will draw cross contour lines of the head of the pineapple, then begin creating out of wire. All steps will be gone over in class

3D Homework- Create an 8 1/2 by 11 contour line drawing of a three dimensional form(person place or thing). Remember no shading, just 1 continuous line. Try to capture highlights and shadows!

2D/Design- We will be critiquing our work today, and starting a new project. We will be taking strips of poster board and creating an ornate word which will be glued down.

The second portion of the project will be started today. There will be no homework this week, I would like you to come in before or after school to finish up your single cupcake or slice of cake.

2D/Drawing- finishing up our macro oil pastel drawing. If finished, brainstorming an interesting composition.

3D- Project instructions are printed in class, lets begin painting and photo transferring.

Sep 23rd

2D/Drawing- Great job practicing with the oil pastel and chalk. After a quick head count, it looks like the majority of you want to complete this project in oil pastels. Lets take a look at professional manipulation of the medium.

Homework- A contour line drawing (with highlights and shadows) of a noun (person, place or thing). DUE Monday 9/29

3D- My hope is that all of you have finished the structural component and are ready to decoupage a base. Do not worry about the aesthetics of the decoupage, we will be painting over.

2D/Drawing-Today we will practice using oil pastels as well as chalk, then we will continue with our contour line drawings of our cupcakes/slices of cake.

Sep 10th

In class today we will take a quick look at our homework inspiration, and then jump back into the project at hand. My hope is that all students will be working our their board today! Remember this project is due (we will stop working on it in class) Friday the 19th. The following Monday we will begin a new project.

Remember I am in class T-TH after school until 4-4:30 (Mondays I have a few meetings), feel free to come in and work on your project!

Sep 8th

In class we will be going over the syllabus, finishing our mod podge, photographing prior art work and discussing how to do a brainweb in our sketchbooks.

Homework is due next Monday the 15th by the time the bell rings. Remember, homework will NOT be worked on in class. Feel free to come in before of after school, or Thursday art lab from 2:30-4:30.

Sep 5th

Great job collecting images and text from old books and news papers. Today we will Mod Podge them down. If there is time, I would like each student to generate a list of words or images that stand out to them when gazing upon their decoupage-piece.

Homework- Students must decide what portfolio they want to complete. Students who wish to submit the 3D portfolio will have to have taken a pottery course prior.

Sep. 4th

Today we will spend the first half of class working on our sketchbooks. If this is not enough time, this may be homework, however the sketchbook cover will not be graded and may stay incomplete. The last portion of class we will begin cutting up old texts: dictionaries, music play books, story books, maps etc... The actual project details will be given later.

If you would like to participate and are not in 1st semester, come in, see the examples and grab some materials!

Welcome to AP Art Studio! Today we will briefly look at the components of a portfolio, and what types of artwork has been submitted in the past. I would like to find out more about you, the student. So fill out the last slide on a blank sheet of paper and turn it in today!

Remember, show your parents your syllabus and return it signed. If you get it turned in before Monday it's worth 5 points extra credit.
